Shattered RV Window! šŸ¤ÆšŸ˜³

ā¬‡ļøWhat Happened & How To Fix It!ā¬‡ļø

{Video at the bottom of this post!šŸ“²}

Our window was shattered during landscape maintenance while we were at a campground on our trip to Florida! šŸ˜±

1. Donā€™t freak out.

{Accidents happen.}

((The campground general manager was fantastic, and covered all replacement costs. šŸ™Œ))

2. Cover the inside of your window to prevent it from shattering inside your RV. We used Duct Tape.

3. Measure your window, and make a plan.

{This can be tricky if you are traveling or donā€™t have a consistent shipping address.}

4. We sealed the outside with Flex Tape to prevent any further damage to our slide or RV for the upcoming travel day.

5. We found the replacement window with Trekwood.com!

{If you have a Keystone RV, I highly recommend them as they carry ALL Keystone replacement parts!}

This step was very hard for us as we have a 2022 Keystone Avalanche 390ds 5th wheel, and our RV has several changes from original parts intended for it. I think this was a process during manufacturing when some parts (like specific windows) werenā€™t available.

Turns out we have a 2022 model with 2023 windows! šŸ¤·ā€ā™€ļø

6. Wait for the window to come in.

{This can take some time depending on manufacturing & shipping.}

Make sure your window is sealed to prevent leaking or damage for this wait time.

7. Time to remove the broken window!

{This window could only be replaced entirely, instead of just the glass.}

Chris removed the valance & blinds, and then the screws on the inside window trim. I was on the outside to make sure the window couldnā€™t fall out in this process. Chris then came and took the outside portion of the window off.

[Note: in the video you can see a label of the exact window to order on the inside of the window trim! Wouldnā€™t that have been useful in the searching process! šŸ™ƒ]

8. Before adding the new window in, Chris added Buytl Tape around the rim of the outside portion, to ensure a great seal!

9. After the outside portion of the window was in place, Chris added the inside rim & screws.

{I was so surprised thatā€™s all that held the windows on! šŸ¤}

10. Chris tested the seals by spraying water directly on the window.
